Description & Upgrade Path
This deck's engine is the use of True Magick, Sign Magick, and Twila Katherine Price. The idea is that you hold the majority of spells in your hand and activate them using True Magick, then using Sign Magick to activate an ability on another spell, and finally if needed you can use Twila Katherine Price to add a charge back on to True Magick to activate another spell in your hand.
The combinations are plentiful! Credit goes to Valentin1331's review of Sign Magick for these combinations..
•• Always use Wither or Sixth Sense before you use your Shrivelling/Armageddon/Azure Flame or Rite of Seeking/Clairvoyance/Eye of Chaos to benefit from the Symbol token effect on your second spell.
•• As it is a , you can use Rite of Seeking right after your attack with Shrivelling without provoking Attacks of Opportunity (!!!)
•• This is extremely interesting as Sword Cane was starting to make Wither (0) a bit useless. Not anymore.
•• Use Wither with Jacqueline Fine and bring an Icon token. This attack does 1 damage and -1 health. Use Sign Magick's to trigger Shrivelling for a nice potential 5 damage turn.
•• Use Sixth Sense with Jacqueline Fine and bring an Icon token. You are now investigating at a different location and find 1 clue. Use Sign Magick's to trigger Rite of Seeking to grab a nice amount of 4 clues at a different location [The rules of "As if" say: "Other card abilities or game effects resolved during the duration of the indicated ability or action are also resolved with the altered game state in mind."]
•• Use Mists of R'lyeh for evasion + move and send an immediate investigation on that new location with Rite of Seeking for an evasion, one move and 2 clues in one turn to make Ursula Downs feel like a sloth.
•• It also looks like it will bring nice combinations with the soon to be released Blur and its Fight version. Evade with Blur, investigate right after with Rite of Seeking and get your action back.
Thanks Valentin1331!
So, how does this deck come together?
1) First thing is we need to get our engine running. To do this we will first need to upgrade Ritual Candles to True Magick.
2) The next piece to the puzzle is to allow ourselves to be able to recharge True Magick, so we need to upgrade Olive McBride to Twila Katherine Price.
3) And to allow us to use a free spell, lets upgrade Sign Magick to Sign Magick.
Now that we have our engine up and running we can realize the vast customization options we have. Depending on the campaign you are playing you can swap out just about anything else in this deck to suit your needs whether it is a level 0 experience at deck building, or an experience card later on in the campaign. For example, if i am playing Dream Eaters (or anything with Swarming), maybe I dont need Hypnotic Gaze and would want Storm of Spirits instead. Upgrade the investigation cards if you're a cluver (and maybe replace one of the fight cards with an evade), or upgrade the Fight cards if you're a fighter. If I am taking too much damage, the Robes of Endless Night to Bulletproof Vest makes sense because the -1 cost that Robes provides doesn't really matter if we're using True Magick. Its totally up to you, but here is the baseline that I would go with to start.
4) Delve Too Deep to Bind Monster
5) Shrivelling to Song of the Dead is pretty safe, but Shrivelling lays out more consistent damage. (or upgrade your Investigate cards)
6) Hypnotic Gaze to Hypnotic Gaze

Aug 25, 2022Happy that my comment inspired you to create a Deck! The interaction between True Magick and Sign Magick is not so clear yet, we are still waiting for a FAQ from FFG (today or tomorrow? Please??). In the meanwhile, it is valid! |
Interesting deck, but I think it's little sad that we cannot equip 2 Sign Magick + 1 True Magick, since 2 Sign Magick will maximize the power of the spells. How about buy Arcane Enlightenment via Versatile? I'm not sure it's really good but it make the deck fun!
