HISTORY (plot of how the deck is made)
Carolyn Fern has always been very responsible, reserved and focused on her studies. From a very young age she had horrible nightmares and it was common for her to wake up in the middle of the night, screaming and drenched in sweat. She only found calm when her mother sang her a relaxing melody Soothing Melody. As a child she could spend hours and hours looking in the mirror at home Hallowed Mirror. That mirror comforted her. Already as a teenager, she fought her nightmares with medications Painkillers (which accompany her wherever she goes) and with other less legal methods Liquid Courage (remember that at that time Prohibition was in force).
Away from parties and events that took place on the Miskatonic campus, her inseparable childhood friend Alice Alice Luxley was the one who instilled in her the values of camaraderie Stand Together and initiative Take the Initiative and the one that took her away, for a moment, from her psychology books. It was not surprising, because Alice was a woman of action, very ahead of her time and she ended up fulfilling her dream of being a detective, something very unusual at that time. To her Carol was more than a friend...she was a comrade.
At Miskatonic University she also met two people who would greatly influence her life; Dr. Milan Christopher Dr. Milan Christopher and student Alyssa Graham Alyssa Graham.
Dr. Milan is, without a doubt, the best entomologist in Arkham and although Carolyn disliked insects, she found her study fascinating to discover new medical methods in curing diseases (especially mental ones). He taught her to use the magnifying glass Magnifying Glass in her investigations and she became a more persevering Inquiring Mind and analytical Deduction. Also faster, she by continually escaping from boring history of psychology classes to appear in Dr. Milan's laboratory. She knew the university like the back of her hand Shortcut.
On the other hand, Alyssa Graham was an enigmatic, reserved student who hoped to discover in psychology the answers to a single question that tormented her: Why could she talk to the dead? She found in Carolyn the perfect companion to share her nightmares with. Alyssa taught him to protect himself from the horrors of her using spells Ward of Protection and amulets St. Hubert's Key, but very dark and dangerous. Although Carolyn longed to expand her knowledge, deep down she knew that sooner or later she had to stop and stop going so far Delve Too Deep... or it would end in a tragic end. For a long time they were friends, but that connection was lost as Alyssa delved deeper and deeper into the mysteries of the occult, which would lead to her downfall.
Carolyn graduates in psychology as the best in her class. She begins to give her first consultations at home, through hypnosis Hypnotic Therapy and those relaxing melodies Soothing Melody that her mother whispered to her when she was little. Her fame spreads like wildfire throughout Arkham. Her income does not stop growing Emergency Cache for each patient she cures from her horrors but she does not hesitate to even financially support those closest to her (it is her particular skill). Without a doubt, we owe the latter to Alice, who has always instilled in him that feeling of camaraderie. Such was her fame that she soon received an offer to work at the Arkham Sanatorium where learned advanced First Aid. There she will face new challenges that will lead her to her most disturbing case, the case of patient Josephine Ruggles.
One day, returning home from work, Carolyn runs into Anna Kaslow, a Romani seer who offers to read her future. She declines the offer but the seer continues to insist. She is tired after a hard day of work and she doesn't believe in these things Rational Thought, but she accepts. After all, she doesn't feel like arguing and she thinks that somehow she will have to make a living for this lady. She sits and watches as the cards come out one by one while the seer weaves a tale of despair and misfortune: The Lovers, Death... Enough! Carolyn exclaims, she's not willing to waste any more time. She is tired and just wants to go home. She gives him some coins and turns to leave. At that moment, the seer grabs his arm and says: Take these two cards Death • XIII ... you will need them in the dark future that awaits you. And another thing... tonight you will meet a man who will change your life. Carolyn reluctantly takes both letters and leaves with funny thoughts... a man (laughs to herself)... I don't have time for men.
Finally home, Carolyn prepares her combination of alcohol and painkillers to go to sleep but there is a knock at the door. It's her friend Alice... Let's have fun! You are a glander! Let's go out and meet people! Not today, Carolyn responds. I'm very tired. But Alice knows how to drag her friend to a party. After all, she's been doing it all her life. Alice didn't like speakeasies so they would go to a boring bar for a soda. Thank goodness she would take her flask with her. Surprise! Alice exclaimed when they reached the bar...and it was a speakeasy. A handsome man was waiting for them there. Do you remember Peter Peter Sylvestre? The quarterback of the Miskatonic team? When did we study? Do you remember? Carolyn nodded almost more to please Alice than anything else. In those years, she didn't pay much attention to boys. And even less so for athletes. She was too busy...as always actually.
Carolyn discovers that Peter is an exceptional person, who is capable of curing the horror generated by his nightmares without the need for painkillers or other substances. Carolyn finds this fascinating. Furthermore, she sees in him someone who can bring her sanity and security. As the hours go by Carolyn begins to feel a very strong attraction towards Peter. She doesn't know if he is emotional, loving or what. She had never been in love or at least what she rationally understood as being in love. What if that psychic was right? What if tarot cards will help me in the future? I'll keep them close as an amulet, she said to herself. In any case, what is certain is that she now had a new ally Charisma.
Since then, Peter and Carolyn have not stopped being together... as friends. Although Carolyn has benefited from his influence: being more fearless Pathfinder, always being vigilant Ever Vigilant or be more discerning Keen Eye. Peter acquired these talents when he was a quarterback and Carolyn is always willing to learn.
To this day it is common to see Alice, Peter and Carolyn in the speakeasy where the three met the first time. As a good speakeasy you can find everything from gin distilled in a bathtub to something even more illegal Dynamite Blast. We don't know what new adventures our researchers will experience but it is possible that in the future they will have a plan Stick to the Plan. Maybe one day Carolyn and Peter will end up together.
