The title "boxer" is not the most accurate descrption for this Leo, cause he rarely has to punch enemies himself.

Overview

Main Strategy
- Engage and Kill enemies with Beat Cop and Guard Dog without costing any actions. Stick with a teammate and abuse Safeguard to save move actions.
- After your allies have done the dirty work for you, use Boxing Gloves and Glory to draw cards and search for spirit events.
- Use powerful events like Stand Together, Motivational Speech, "Let me handle this!", Ward of Protection to help the team.
Early Game Set-up
- Cards attached to Stick to the Plan: Ever Vigilant, Toe to Toe, Prepared for the Worst
- During mulligan, look for cards like The Star • XVII, Boxing Gloves, Rod of Animalism, Guard Dog or Beat Cop, and "I've had worse…" or Stand Together. Use Prepared for the Worst if you didn't find the boxing glove during mulligan.
- Use your free actions every turn to play an ally, ideally getting 1-2 Beat Cop and/or Guard Dog and/or Sled Dog to be able to deal with 2-HP enemies.
- The Toe to Toe attached to Stick to the Plan grants a guaranteed 2 DMG (3 if combo with Vicious Blow) whenever needed.
- On rare occasions, you can use Brand of Cthugha with a base of 6 (+ 1/2 with 1/2 Beat Cop out); punching enemies with a base of 5 (+ 1/2 from Beat Cop) would be a back-up plan.
- If you cannot kill the enemy spawned this turn, just engage it from your cluers and tank it. You are ridiculously tanky so don't be afraid of taking damages and horrors.
Do Your Job Right
- Engage enemies for free with Guard Dog and "retaliate" for 1 dmg (2 if both copies are out), then finish off with Beat Cop
- Again, the Toe to Toe attached to Stick to the Plan grants guaranteed damages.
- Mid- to late game, Sled Dog grants a good fighting ability once every turn, supplimented by Brand of Cthugha; combined with the passive damages mentioned above and other fighting events, these tools should be more than enough for you to deal with most enemies.
- Tank enemies is always an avaliable option. With optimal set-up (9 allies and the tarot), you can take up to 31 damages and 24 horrors while keeping every card alive at 1 health and 1 sanity. And this doesn't even account for the mitigations and heals from "I've had worse…" and Calling in Favors. Charon's Obol will never kill you. Also, becasue of the abundant card draws/searches, you will be able to cycle your deck much faster than most guardians, so getting allies defeated doesn't really hurt all that much.
Resource Management
- This is a very resource-demanding deck, so sometimes you might need to take the basic resource action to play an ally at the start of your next turn. Good news is that you don't really need to perform a lot of fight actions, so you should have the leisure to click resources.
- "I've had worse…" will give you 2 resources and mitigates 2 damage/horror.
- Stand Together will give you and a teammate 2 resources and 2 card draws if upgraded.
- Motivational Speech can be played either for yourself or a teammate, while Ever Vigilant helps play non-ally assets while saving resources, playing 2 assets with it is already acceptable.
- Rod of Animalism helps saving cost on 6 animal allies.
Cycling Through the Deck
- You will be drawing 2-3 cards each turn on average, given there are enough enemies for you to fight.
- Boxing Gloves gives 1 search after defeating an enemy, and there are 11 spirit events in this deck.
- Glory gives 2 card draws after defeating an enemy, and can be quickly obtained using Boxing Gloves as a spirit event.
- Stand Together gives 2 card draws to you and a teammate.
- Friends in Low Places searches for the 9 allies in the deck, but since the target cards costs resources to draw, generally drawing 2 would be the upper limit in my experience.
- Calling in Favors help search for allies and healing the one being returned to hand.
Assist Your Team
Aside from doing your main job of enemy management, this deck allows for various ways to assist your team:
- Guard Dog can pull enemies engaged with other investigators during their turns, actually provide more tactical value than people expect.
- Stand Together will make you the daddy of the team cause everyone wants that 2 resources and 2 cards.
- "Let me handle this!" allows you to take those nasty treachery cards for your teammate, either tanking the damage or take advantage of your 4 and saving their actions would both be great help to the team.
- Motivational Speech can be played for an ally to save their action and resources, but such timing is rare cause you will generally be playing for yourself in early stages and your teammate generally doesn't need to play allies in later stages.
- Countering encounters like Ancient Evils with Ward of Protection (obtained using Versatile, a luxury addition at later campaign) will gain the thanks from the whole team.
- If you want more clue gathering ability, considering replace Beat Cop Grete Wagner or Guard Dog Lesson Learned
Upgrade Path

In 0 exp, getting at least 2 Sled Dog out early will be vital for your ability to deal with enemies.
If you feel good about the enemy management at the point before the 1st upgrade, then go for:

If you mean removing the dogs from the deck, I would not recommend that because I really needed to draw and play 2 dogs in early game and having 4 in the deck most often ensured that. If you mean you might not play the dog 3 and 4 in mid to late game, I would agree that other allies or asset could be prioritized before them. However, I definitely think playing the 3rd sled dog has values because it outputs 3 damages with pretty high consistency, becoming probably the best option to actively deal enemies while saving the use of Guard Dog and Beat Cop. From my experience, I was able to get 3 sled dogs out in mid game most of time and the 4th dog was often sacrificed by Leo's own weakness. Also, if you are fighting a boss, you would want to have as many dogs out as possible. |

Did you find in playing this deck that the Sled Dogs provided a reasonable amount of value? I would worry that by the time Dogs 3&4 make it to the party the outcome of the scenario is pretty much decided.
