This is one of a set of decks designed to create a demonstration set to let new players try the game out. The intention is to give new players a meaningful choice between chars by making each play a little different to the others without overly nerfing them to the point of not being fun. This does mean some decks are stronger than others but no one has so far has cared.
The other decks can be found here: [This section under construction - I will edit these as I publish each deck but bare with me it might take a few days do to the write ups]
Roland: Firearm based combatant with passive clue acquisition.
Zoey: Heavy duty melee damage purist.
Skids: Combat rogue with high evasion and burst damage options.
Jenny: Cash driven multi action generalist
Daisy: Clue hunter/caster hybrid with additional support functionality.
Rex: Ellusive heavy duty clue hunter
Wendy: Stealth rogue, event driven reactive deck
Ashcan: Draw heavy flexible damage dealer and clue hunter hybrid
If you don’t mind proxying or some substitutions, the only restriction between using some of these together is in the unique allies though I have tried to minimise overlap by only allowing them to be in pairings I would not expect to be picked together very often (Milan in both seekers, Leo in both rogues etc).
Disclaimer: Where possible I have tried to test these decks, though some have had more testing than others and one or two are as yet untested. I have added a second disclaimer at the bottom where this is the case. As I get the chance to try them out I may well update them a bit. I certainly welcome feedback if anyone does try them out or has suggestions.
PLAYING AS JENNY: The cash driven multi action generalist
__
3 + 2 = 5 Almost all of the cards in this deck allow you to temporarily modify your odds of passing a test by 2 points. Going to an equivalent of 5 skill for a test should be a decent value for most checks. Lucky! lets you do it retrospectively if needed. Note that you do have the option to go to 7 with two cards on those tough ones (usually needs to be different cards tho).
Cash is king, or indeed Queen! Leo De Luca and Elusive let you convert spare cash into bonus actions while the inclusion of Fire Axe, Arcane Studies and Hard Knocks, let you pump skills with for resources when you don’t have or don’t want to spend a skill card. Note that in this build you are not expecting to use the bonus damage from Fire Axe in all your attacks. Its a bit like a reusable Overpower, though the all in damage option is there should you badly need it. Remember Overpower/Unexpected Courage can be used for second swings if needed. An easy variant if you prefer a continuous bonus damage option over the higher accuracy would be to swap Fire Axe for Machete (see note below). Finally Burglary gives you a backup option for cash generation in case youve over spent or something has gone badly wrong...
Twice the fun Double or Nothing can be used for either bonus damage on weapon attacks (note that if you have Hard Knocks down as well as the axe you can use both to be sure of maximising hit chance and getting the damage bonus) or to get a bonus clue on low shroud areas with Flashlight's ‘zeroing the shroud_' trick or through Arcane Studies on higher shroud locations.
Dig deep Spending those skill cards liberally (and indeed on your team mate’s actions) will help you to find whatever missing combo piece you failed to mulligan for, for example Leo, a particular talent card or your preferred weapon.
Upgrading I have tried to keep this deck low on cost to keep those resources available for talent cards. This hopefully means you don’t need to go straight for Hot Streak as many jenny builds aim to (though it is a natural upgrade from Burglary). Here you can go straight for toys and grab that Sure Gamble for that glorious Double or Nothing moment youve been dying to pull off.
Jenny specific disclaimer:
This deck is as yet minimally tested. The one game ive tried it with it seemed to do what I had hoped but I would very much welcome comments, especially around Fire Axe vs Machete for the reusable weapon slot. My suspicion is that the axe lets you get set up faster and machete needs support from hard knocks to be in play. I opted for Fire Axe as I've never been that keen on relying on 2 cards for common actions to become reliable, and the option to go really big on a boss with Double or Nothing late game (when 2 card combos become more likely to be available) was just too tempting.
Finally - I swear I got the idea for a skill card heavy jenny from somewhere else. I just cant seem to find the deck. If anyone has made this or something close before please let me know and i`ll happily give you the credit you deserve.
a quick update on this incase anyone was following. Ive now had a couple of games with it and it seems to function more or less as intended. I think the Burglary may be superfluous. As may be the Emergency Cache's. I tend to find the skill cards are enough for most situations leaving Hard Knocks and Arcane Studies as late game back ups. Im yet to use the .41 Derringer but im still of the opinion that at least 4 weapons are needed in the deck if you hope to draw one early. That said, with her Twin .45s it might be fine to drop one. Im yet to try it, but i suspect the following might be better:
-1 .41 Derringer,
-1 Burglary, and
+2 Opportunist
(at very least swap Burglary for one)
The Opportunists would only be included for the wild icon. The fact that they can return to hand is simply a bonus for the occasions you "crit", and should not be played into by design.
