Olive: What a boring song, Jim.

Jim: It’s a song for the dead.

Olive: But they’re still alive!

Jim: Soon they won’t be.

Nkosi: Play it again, Jim!

A cool deck, but a magnificent description xD

@CapMeeple Thanks! I spent all morning racking my brain trying to describe the deck... pretty sure I overthought it.

Great deck, but why not use upgraded olive?

Nov 04, 2024 Julio_R · 915

@stanpe Thanks for commenting. Yes, sure, upgraded Olive is much better, but I wanted to limit the deck to 19xp In the games I've played with level 0 Olive, it works very well, although it's always better to see 4 tokens than 3 ;)

Have you thought about Ancestral Token or, say Purified as alternatives to Bandolier? Astral Mirror could be an alternate extra hand slot solution. Though I suppose then you'd want Relic Hunter to still play the sweet sweet Cleaning Kits.

Thanks @bernieschlotfeldt for commenting. Yes, Ancestral Token is a very good addition to the deck. The more non-negative tokens in the bag, the easier to hit with the Winchester. And as you have pointed, Relic Hunter is needed since Cleaning Kit is mandatory. I had thought of Astral Mirror but I cut it in the 19xp deck. Anyway, I'm not very happy with the Bandolier, it's really not worth it for just playing the Trumpet. But an Astral Mirror would give you another hand slot for something else and saves you the actions, the bad thing is that it still doesn't work well with Backpack. But yes, it's a good idea for a more advanced deck. Good point.

Have you looked at Rod of Carnamagos? The current ruling makes it almost a supercharged Olive with no downside aside from the hand slot (and requiring an non-elite enemy but since this deck is all about fighting that's less of a concern). I personally find the interaction to be a bit too effective but figured it was worth leaving this comment for others.

Hi @Evilamarant7x, thanks for commenting and pointing this out. Yes, I'm aware of this synergy. It was commented in my group when Carnamagos was released, but to be honest, I don't like at all the current rule when you can get proffit from tokens revealed fo Carnamagos during a skill test. I have never used it.

Hi, dude... I have a doubt with the .35 Winchester. If you reveal a token... you only change the "modifier" not the token at all... 'am right??

@Dr_sMoKe The taboo changes the card text to apply for "a non-negative modifier". Non-tabooed this does indeed not work.

Would you now put in our friend Katarina Sojka? Or keep Olive?

Apr 16, 2025 Evilamarant7x · 38

@danisnotonfire If you're trying to triggering the Winchester as reliably as possible then Olive is still going to be a better choice but if you have Nkosi out as well then Katarina will perform pretty similarly.

Thanks @danisnotonfire for commenting. I agree with @Evilamarant7x, Olive is still better since her works well just alone. Katarina needs Nkosi in play to work, and even in that case you risk to get the as the first symbol token.

Also, removing Olive would make me have to change the description of the deck.
