Current build after Unspeakable Oath. I'm really enjoying this build and it's performing very well in a group consisting of myself, Rex and William. Mark is amazing - great card draw, strong and able to boost for obscure tests using Sophie. Heal him up and go again.
I've upgraded the last vicious blow, the second beat cop and added in......exciting music..the lightning gun in anticipation for the bigger enemies I have a feeling are coming soon :)
The tool box approach to combat works well - if I need a firearm I can find one, but most of the time the trusty machete is all I need. I've ended up using Emergency Aid in every scenario so far. Elusive continues to be a major star of the show, allowing Mark to jump over and help another investigator who might be in trouble, or just get into a better position and leave non-hunter enemies behind.

Jan 29, 2018Yep very good points. I’m going to see how it goes in the next scenario - maybe it’s a terrible mistake :) Agree that bandolier and possibly charisma might be next upgrades to make this work. Was hoping it would serve as a boss killer weapon when I need it - probably late to end scenario. |
Jan 29, 2018Lightning Gun is for boss fights, you don't want to play it early, rather save it for the end game. Having said that Extra Ammunition as another upgrade would be great. I'd drop Manual Dexterity also. Please post another updates as you move on with the campaign. I'm very curious to see how it works out as your upgrade path is quite diffrent to how i usually build Mark. |
Jan 29, 2018Will do - we aced Unspeakable Oath yesterday, but it could all go quickly wrong in the next few packs :) Yeah I did think about dropping Manual Dex, but it saved the day yesterday in helping another investigator escape a monster so he could run away and I could Elusive out of dodge. |
Jan 31, 2018Also, Manual Dexterity can be useful for mark, as he can get to 7 with it and has own ability. Useful to exhaust a boss you can't kill in one turn. This also minimizes the risk of being damaged by allies, when they fail the test. |
Jan 31, 2018Yeah, but that's what Unexpected Courage is for and Mark with Beat Cop/True Grit/Brother Xavier is tanky enough to take a hit or two. In fact i would even get rid of Overpower to make room for other cards but as mentioned in previous comment i build Mark a bit differently. :) |
You've got Lightning Gun but no Bandolier or Extra Ammunition? It's a great weapon, but has only 3 uses and ocupies both hand slots, often forcing you to discard 1 or 2 weapons.
I'm playing a 50XP mark deck, but never added the gun. His 5 is so high that he does not need the gun's +5 and i'm rather spending an additional action to kill stuff with Machete or .32 Colt, than to spend 6 ressources to play the gun and lose some other weapon (with more ammo).
