-
String (STRING ALONG) an Annoying Fan Along (MOB ENFORCER) with you, allowing you to trigger your ability and Purloin from them every turn (PICKPOCKETING).
-
Craft precise scams thanks to your Visionary Masterstroke (ARTISTIC INSPIRATION), using your Elite Handwriting (STEADY HANDED), on the Book of Verse (BOOK OF VERSE). Use it to promote your bogus Antikythera (ANTIKYTHERA) with your con man Alton O'Connell (ALTON).
-
Use your mental (FEET) to keep pesky groupies at bay, and practice the mantra: Ki-ts (THIEVES' KIT) and Kite.
Your ability wants you to evade. If you are engaged with an enemy, it is, in fact, the same as Rex, rewarding you for succeeding by 2 or more by giving you an extra clue. Of course Rex is better because he can let others deal with his enemy and focus on clues. To compensate for this, we need to see if there is a way to turn an evade action into more value than an investigation.
-
The first part is to be able to evade every turn. This is enabled by String Along, which not only gives you a card when evading, but it keeps the enemy engaged with you.
-
While this usually sounds like a bad idea, it here means that we can drag along our pet for the duration of the scenario, making it possible to evade it every turn.
-
The catch is that it makes enemies Alert, so if you fail they attack you. So better choose your pet accordingly, either by choosing one that doesn't hurt too much, or one with a low Evade value. And well... you'll get a few inevitable punches on .
-
-
The next payoff is the old trusty Pickpocketing (2), which is wonderfully fast to play, and gives you both cards and a resource each turn.
- From there onward, every turn will give you 3 cards and a resource, allowing you to cycle your deck rather fast.
-
Succeeding by 3 to win the game
-
Your main precision payoff is the Antikythera, which we will almost always aim for the clue.
-
The Antikythera being Science, it can be Fine Tuned for another clue each turn!
-
You have 3 precision enablers:
-
Your Book of Verse not only allows you to modulate your success, but also works as a mini-lucky if you fail by 1. Definitely a good card!
-
Steady-Handed so your calligraphy soothes your sanity. While it is good to compensate for your weakness and fast cycling, it will rarely trigger because success by 2 is not the number we are looking for.
-
Artistic Inspiration uses your high draw as fuel to refine your lines.
-
-
Succeeding by 1 or 3 should be rather easy even with only 1 precision asset in play. Test 4 above, and then any token between 0 and -4 can be modulated to give you an extra clue. We still added 3 different precision assets for the following reasons:
-
You may pull a +1 or -5
-
The faster you find one, the faster you can start activating your Antikythera
-
If you have more than one, you can modulate multiple tests each turn, making it possible for the Antikythera to yield 2 clues per turn.
