This is the 1st deck I have built from scratch, I'm sure it's less than perfect. I'm teamed up with Nathaniel Cho and we're in Dunwich using only cards from the core box and Dunwich. This is Jim's state after 4 scenarios (1a, 1b, 2 and 3).

Hello, hope you're having fun on dunwitch :)

i guess you posted this to have advises, so ill give you my advises if you dont mind :

1) imo, taking one instance of each card is a mistake -i saw many other people do that so maybe im just wrong, but- imo you should take 2 copies of each card you think is important. Either you want to draw the card in game (and in that case you want to maximize its occurrences), or you dont want to draw it, and you should not take it. It just takes to rank cards between one another

2) i really dont like blinding lights. i think you always prefer a dead enemy to a inclined enemy. just take more shrivelling. Moreso teaming up with a guardian. overall i think dexterity is an almost useless stat most of the time (its only useful on specific scenarios or when you just cant fight properly)

3) dont underestimate "ward of protection" level2. very useful when carefully used, either to cancel encounters cho might have diffculty with. Just cancelling "ancient evils" is also very strong imo

4) one of the greatest strength of jim imo, is his abality to take any level0-card. It can completely change your gameplay. For instance : since you team up with a guardian, you could have taken 2 dr milan and 2 magnifying glass. which, combined with warren rice, can get you to a maximum of 7 base intel. at that point you are not even depending on finding "rite of seeking" to investigate. Broken. note that rite of seeking and drawn to the flame are still powerful, but only because it allows you to get more than one clues per action. Alyssa is cool when you cant get milan (since she doesnt take an extra-class spot) but milan just generates so much fkin money...

5) horror healing important, but is also easily available for guardians, and if you dont get enemies via encounters, a guardian might have nothing to do in its turn. I would advise to let the guardian do that, and let you focus on investigation.

6) shrivelling and rite of seeking gives really high amount of mental bonus for their tests when upgraded, which makes them the two best spells in the game by far imo. i almost dont bother considering other spells now, when im building a deck xD. By the way, it also allows non-mystic character to use them quite easily (for instance : lola is quite happy about the +2mental free)

7) arcane initiate is indeed a strong card (mystic usually depend on finding spell cards). but it almost makes moonlight ritual mandatory with it. saving 1 doom is just enormous (you save one round). So, following the logic made in 1), it implies having in total 4 cards to draw. jim not necessarily depending on spell via milan+glass+warren ALSO allows him to not see arcane initiate (and therefore moonlight ritual) as mandatory, freeing him much space

TL;DR : i love jim xD

I appreciate the feedback. I may modify him along the way to some of these suggestions. I'm still new to the game and learning the tricks of the trade and hadn't thought about doubling up until I took book of shadows twice. Unfortunately, the version of Cho my friend is playing is very much combat geared more than healing so that has fallen on me a lot.

I see a lot of people don't like Blinding Light, I've found it useful. I also (obviously) haven't tapped into the strength of being able to take any level 0 cards.

Right now the most important thing is we are both having a lot of fun with the game, but I also don't want to build so inefficiently that I'm decreasing out chances of winning.

Thanks again for your comments.
