This deck theory is using parallel front and regular back, to make Roland a big hand flex seeker.
You quickly get up to 6 or 7 book versus shroud, and the 6 events you use to deal with enemies have a +2 due to the directive. Also, since it’s big hand you’re likely to have one of 6 skill cards in hand that give you at least +3 to your mythos stats.
How you assemble this big hand is through fast action Deep Knowledge and one action cost Thorough Inquiry (draw 5!) for the first cycle. After that, the dream enhancing serum will help on secondary draws, potentially freeing you up to give some of that incredible draw to teammates. With only 4 required play actions, this deck seems like all gas no breaks. Unfortunately, it’s theoretical cap is fast action deal with an enemy then pick up 3-4 clues every turn, which isn’t bad…
As for piloting the deck, I’ve only tested the opening hands in the draw simulator. From that, I’ve gathered that you want to hard mulligan for book boosts, but you should keep 1 draw card in your hand to get everything started.
I feel like I’ve butchered Roland’s identity with this deck, but it seems like a powerful 16xp deck (only 6 of which is required). If someone feels inspired to try out this deck, let me know how it goes.
