This deck was constructed to take part in QuarantineCon 2020. Cards were chosen around the theme of the event, with little to no attention given to optimization for play.

Mandy Thompson, Paranoid Hypochondriacal CDC Research Assistant

CDC Research Assistant Mandy Thompson finds herself in a race against time to create a vaccine that could save millions from extinction from a deadly ancient virus that has been unwittingly unearthed by [Ursula Downs](/card/04002) during her recent treasure hunting expedition to the Andes.

Another Day at the Lab

Mandy toils daily at the CDC laboratories under the tutelage of her manager, [Dr. William T. Maleson](/card/02302). Much Mandy's chagrin, the good doctor often ignores her ideas in favor of those from his other two [Laboratory Assistant](/card/02020)s. She can't help it, after all, that her extreme [Paranoia](/card/01097) and her [Hypochondria](/card/01100) compels her to wash her hands for 20 seconds within moments of handling anything in the office or laboratory.

But this is no time for self pity. The news headlines with their daily infection statistics are a constant reminder to Mandy that the work she is doing could very well be the difference in the battle for the very survival of the human race! The world needs good news.

Nobody Puts Mandy in a Corner!

["I've got a plan!"](/card/02107), Mandy exclaims to herself as she reviews her set of [Anatomical Diagrams](/card/03108) for the thousandth time today. She's tired of taking a backseat to her co-researchers and decides to put [Mind over Matter](/card/01036). Her [Inquiring Mind](/card/02227) will leave [No Stone Unturned](/card/03307). "When [Seeking Answers](/card/02023) one must use [Logical Reasoning](/card/03191), " she reminds herself.

Mandy's Strange Solution

After countless hours of research, and hanging on to the thinnest shred of [A Glimmer of Hope](/card/06245), Mandy decides to throw caution to the wind and pursue some non-conventional approaches, While [Working a Hunch](/card/01037) she has an [Astounding Revelation](/card/06023). "[Eureka!](/card/03231), I think I've got it!". After a few dips into the CDC's [Emergency Cache](/card/01088), Mandy's [Shocking Discovery](/card/06009) results in the concoction of a [Strange Solution](/card/02021).

Mandy Needs a Volunteer

[Seeking Answers](/card/02023) and eager to find test subjects to try her vaccine, she starts [Calling in Favors](/card/03158) over at the Miskatonic University Library. After much prodding, she is able to convince her friend, the [Able Bodied](/card/05038) [Research Librarian](/card/01032), to slurp it down.

Let's Test It Out!

"Now to test it..., " Mandy thinks to herself. "We are going to need to expose you to the virus," she tells the librarian. Grabbing a [Knife](/card/01086) from the CDC cafeteria and a [Magnifying Glass](/card/01030) from her desk drawer they head out to do some [Fieldwork](/card/03024). She decides to make a quick stop at her house to [Scrounge for Supplies](/card/06165). It is there that things take a decidedly unexpected turn...

The Gathering

Back at the house Mandy manages to consult her [Medical Texts](/card/01035) and begins to find the answers she is looking for. But things go south fast as her health and sanity suffer after searching her attic and cellar for more useful texts.

When the [Ghoul Priest](/card/01116) arrives Mandy manages to escape to the Parlor where she finds [Lita Chantler](/card/01117), who agrees to help Mandy after a brief parley. Mandy can feel doom approaching as she pulls out the cafeteria [Knife](/card/01086), keeps her [Anatomical Diagrams](/card/03108) close at hand, and awaits the arrival of the ghoul.

It is at this point Mandy smells something funky and is horrified to find [Rotting Remains](/card/01163) festering in the Parlor. She is so traumatized by this experience she is unable to utilize the diagrams when the priest arrives. Left with only her Knife and with Lita at her side she lashes out ineffectively. When the priest retaliates and attacks the pair Lita is badly injured and Mandy is forced to drop the knife, which she believes has become infected.

Hanging on to their lives and sanity by mere threads, the pair rush out of the house, but not before grabbing an [Encyclopedia](/card/01042) and brushing up on [Scientific Theory](/card/03109)...

Midnight Masks

Mandy learns from Lita all about the strange cult and its desire to prevent anyone from stopping the ancient virus. The cult believes that this ancient cult signals a return of The Great Old Ones in a manner that has been prophesied. In order to stop them, Mandy sets off with Lita to unmask the cultists.

Mandy is able to quickly unmask the first cultist they happen upon, Victoria Devereaux, using her sharp wit. The parley costs the team some time, however, and they can feel the pace of doom quickening. They then unmask cultist Peter Warren after dispatching him with Mandy's [Knife](/card/01086). Mandy throws the Knife, however, which later causes her problems when the Ghoul Priest and Masked Hunter catch wind of their activity.

Pursued doggedly by the priest, the hunter, and a newly arrived Night Gaunt, the pair run out of time and are forced to run for cover. She will attempt to stop them at their ceremony in the woods of Arkham.

The Devourer Below

Convinced that she must stop the cult to save the world, Mandy makes her way with Lita to the woods of Arkham. Before discovering two clues the pair find themselves confronted multiple times by Umordoth's Wrath and two Yithian Observers. In addition to Mandy's case of Paranoia and Hypochondria, she develops an acute case of Psychosis, which is the inevitable cause of her untimely demise in what was a miserably futile attempt.
